Consultation: Before a person is treated, it is important to first determine
if they are a candidate for chiropractic care. This is determined
by first having a consultation by the doctor to review the person’s
health condition. Questions about how the condition started, what
makes it better or worse and the severity of the symptoms are
often asked.

Physical
Examination: The consultation
is followed by a physical examination of the
spine or affected area of the body. After ruling
out conditions that require an immediate medical
referral, the doctor will perform an evaluation
of the neuromusculoskeletal (nerves, muscles,
and bones) system. At the conclusion of the
examination, the doctor will determine if radiographs
(x-rays) are necessary.
Once the consultation, examination,
and necessary radiographs are completed, the
person is re-scheduled for a report of findings
with the doctor. So that the doctor can be
as thorough as possible with each case, treatment
is rarely rendered on the

first
visit. In acute or urgent situations, treatment
may be rendered at the discretion of the doctor.
What
can I expect on my second visit? The
second visit the doctor will meet with the
person for a “Report of Findings”.
During this report the doctor will discuss
the person’s
diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and financial
responsibilities. If the person is comfortable
with the recommendations and financial arrangements,
care will usually begin this same visit. Additional
diagnostic testing such as computerized spinal
range of motion and x-rays may be performed
during this second visit.
