Your First Visit to Our Mesa Practice
Before a person is treated, it is important to determine if they are a candidate for chiropractic care. This is determined by first having a consultation by the doctor to review the person’s health condition. Questions about how and when the condition started, what makes it better or worse, and the severity of the symptoms are often asked.
The consultation is followed by a physical examination of the spine or affected area of the body. After ruling out conditions that require an immediate medical referral, the doctor will perform an evaluation of the neuromusculoskeletal (nerves, muscles, and bones) system. At the conclusion of the examination, the doctor will determine if radiographs (x-rays) are necessary.
Once the consultation, examination, and necessary radiographs are completed, the patient is re-scheduled for a report of findings with the doctor. So that the doctor can be as thorough as possible with each case, treatment is rarely rendered on the first visit. In acute or urgent situations, treatment may be rendered at the discretion of the doctor.
Generally speaking, new patients should plan on spending about 30 minutes in our office for this initial visit. Those that see us for personal injury, such as auto accidents or workplace injuries, should set aside about an hour. It is important that insurance information and/or claim numbers are provided to our office on this initial visit.
